Responsibilities
- The roles and responsibilities of a book or magazine Graphic Designer/ DTP artist mainly revolve around the graphical design and contents layout of a particular book or magazine.
- Graphic Designer/ DTP Artist will be expected to come up with design concepts that get the magazine or book’s messages across with a high visual impact.
- Graphic Designer/ DTP Artist will be responsible for the creation of original and complete graphic designs (Cover and Typography, Contents Layout, Advertisement Page) for a book or magazine for which he or she is assigned to.
- Graphic Designer/ DTP Artist will be required to work closely with other colleagues, such as editors, illustrators and photographers.
- Graphic Designer/ DTP Artist will be expected to find out about the project requirements, to fully understand it, and to conduct appropriate research to fulfil them.
- Graphic Designer/ DTP Artist will be required to amend designs or perform corrections according to the editor’s final comments.
Requirements
- A diploma/ bachelor’s degree in graphic design, desktop publishing, illustration, fine art or any related field, preferably with a significant amount of exposure to books and/or magazines publication works.
- Solid design background (evidence of past design works or portfolio is REQUIRED).
- Must be an expert in Adobe InDesign, Photoshop, and Illustrator. Must develop a keen interest in keeping up with new developments in design softwares.
- Originality, strong visual sense and extraordinary creative flair in CHILDREN/ TEENAGERS magazines and books graphic design.
- Strong computer skills, preferably Mac OS.
- Ability in packaging or merchandise designs is a plus.
- Excellent interpersonal and time management skills.
- Ability to cope with tight deadlines and manage multiple tasks and priorities.
- Must be able to sit and work at a computer for long periods.
- Must be available and willing to work extended hours as occasionally needed to meet project demands, including weekends and holidays.
- Ability to keep strictest levels of confidentiality.
- Ability to converse in Bahasa Malaysia.
- Fresh graduate is encouraged to apply.
